What We Do

LINC-Twin Cities has three major areas of focus: Neighborhood Connections, Volunteer Network, and establishing Christian Community Development Centers.

As a result of LINC-TC’s work in these programs:

  • Congregations become intimately familiar with the communities surrounding their churches, understanding needs of the neighborhood and equipping people to utilize their own strengths and assets to bring about solutions and sustainable change.
  • Community development “hubs” are started around the Twin Cities at strategically located LCMS churches to meet real needs in each community and to serve as a base for Christian people to serve and build relationships.
  • Volunteers are mobilized toward working with neighborhood residents to enrich the quality of their community. Volunteers are equipped with urban ministry skills—improving their ability to relate across cultural, ethnic, language and socioeconomic barriers.
  • Teams of leaders are developed within each congregation who are committed to the community.
  • Christian individuals practice Christian community development principles and live missionally, with some people choosing to practice incarnational ministry by living in the neighborhood.
  • Long-term: LCMS churches engage in Christian community development ministries that empower residents to overcome dependence and develop their potential.
